一、報價(jià) Offer
某制造商發(fā)函給進(jìn)口商，主要是更正上次報價(jià)的條件。信函是這么寫(xiě)的：

We would like to modify the offer given to you in our fax last week. We have discovered that the material to be used to make each unit will be NT$1500, not NT$1000. Thus, we regret to inform you that the offer must be raised from NT$4000 to NT$4500 per unit. We are very sorry for the error; no extra costs will be passed on to you. As we stated in the last fax, this offer remains in force until the end of the month. Again, we remind you that this is an offer without engagement.

短語(yǔ)解說(shuō)
modify the offer 修正報價(jià)
"modify" ‘修正、變更’。報價(jià)之后，如經(jīng)對方同意，亦可做修正，例如變更報價(jià)之展期等。
offer remains in force until... 報價(jià)至...為止有
"remain"‘維持不變’。"in force"，這個(gè)詞組是說(shuō)‘有效、實(shí)行中’;"force"在此意指‘效力’。"until"之后加日期，這個(gè)表達語(yǔ)等于"offer is valid until..."。
offer without engagement 不受約束之報價(jià);可變更
"engagement" ‘約束’。此類(lèi)報價(jià)方式之報價(jià)人有權變更原條件，即使已收到對方的確認函(電)，仍可變更原報價(jià)。

"regret"‘遺憾、抱歉’之意。"inform" ‘通知、告訴’之意，比"tell"正式嚴肅。此說(shuō)法通常用于告訴對方壞消息時(shí)，一開(kāi)始應先表示己方之遺憾或抱歉，讓對方先有心理準備，再進(jìn)一步解說(shuō)問(wèn)題所在，要求對方的諒解或認同。
二、市場(chǎng) Market
買(mǎi)方預期景氣即將復蘇，打算抓住此一契機，與制造廠(chǎng)商聯(lián)手出擊，開(kāi)創(chuàng )市場(chǎng)新天地。

A: We feel the market will soon be on the upgrade, and it’s time to work together on this new product.
B: I think we all agree that there will be a market boom soon. If we plan ahead, we shall beat our competitors.
A: Yes. When people start spending the money they saved during the market slump, we’ll do well.
B: We’re ready to put a lot of money into making the product. Are you going to invest in marketing to develop the market for it?
A: Yes. Our company is not making much money now, but we know if we spend money to develop the market for this product, future profits will be good.
B: It’s a feature of the market that people start to buy things only when they are sure the market is getting better.

短語(yǔ)解說(shuō)
the market is on the upgrade 市場(chǎng)看漲
"upgrade"，‘上揚、提升’;"up"在此有‘向上’的意思。市場(chǎng)看漲表示經(jīng)濟復蘇，市價(jià)逐漸向上揚升，而商品交易亦日趨活絡(luò )。與之相反者為"The market is off (down)."(市場(chǎng)下滑)和"The market is on a downward trend."。
market boom 市場(chǎng)繁榮;市場(chǎng)景氣
"boom"‘繁榮;興盛之意’。"market boom"是指因商品的需求增加，帶動(dòng)工業(yè)的生產(chǎn)，使得市場(chǎng)上的交易活動(dòng)熱烈。與"strong market"類(lèi)似。
develop a market 開(kāi)發(fā)新市場(chǎng);拓展市場(chǎng)
這個(gè)用語(yǔ)的基本意義是指，為一項全新推出或既有的產(chǎn)品尋求銷(xiāo)售對象或通路。若針對全新產(chǎn)品，"develop a market" 是表示為此產(chǎn)品找到消費群，使之能順利進(jìn)入市場(chǎng);若針對舊有產(chǎn)品，則表示為它開(kāi)展不曾接觸的販賣(mài)領(lǐng)域，如增加不同的通路或銷(xiāo)往國外。

"agree"，“贊成、同意”之意。表示談話(huà)雙方共同贊成之事。說(shuō)者在聽(tīng)完對方提出的意見(jiàn)后，若有同意感則可用此句拉攏彼此的距離。"agree"的相反詞為"disagree"，‘大家都不同意’可譯為"We all disagree with that..."。
