　　英國

　　Don't cut into lines. "Queue jumping - this is the only crime that the population would consider bringing back capital punishment for."

　　不要插隊："插隊是唯一能讓英國人恨得希望恢復死刑的'罪行'。"

　　Don't ask how much money someone makes: "Instead play a curious guessing game by asking someone what they do, where they live, where they went on holiday, and figure it out by correlating this with their accents."

　　不要問(wèn)別人掙多少錢(qián)："不過(guò)你可以玩好奇的猜謎游戲，問(wèn)對方做什么工作、在哪里居住、到哪里度假，然后再根據對方口音綜合判斷出來(lái)。"

　　Don't invite someone to your home: "Unless you know them very, very well."

　　印度

　　Don't kiss in public: "In some jurisdictions this will land you in jail for 'public obscenity' (a lot of our laws are stuck in the Victorian era)."

　　日本

　　Don't tip anyone: "Tipping is just not part of the culture. Don't even leave the small change. People will come running after you with it."

　　Don't wear your shoes in someone's house: "If you see other people taking their shoes off, do the same. (Note: there's a small area right inside the entrance called a 'genkan' which is usually one level below the rest of the house, where you take off your shoes. You don't take them off outside the house!)"

　　俄國

　　Don't give an even number of flowers as a gift: "That's for dead folks. A proper bouquet will have 1/3/5/7 flowers."

　　Don't rely on a credit card: "There are lots of places which only accept cash."

　　Don't assume the people support everything the government does: "Quite often we don't. Don't criticize our government. We do it a lot by ourselves; we don't need your help."

　　新加坡

　　You can get fined for a lot of things in Singapore, including: feeding the birds, spitting, urinating in public, smoking in public, eating or drinking on public transport, and littering, among other things。

　　新西蘭

　　Don't confuse New Zealanders with Australians: "We don't like it!"

　　Don't make fun of rugby, 'Lord of the Rings', or the Queen of England: "All Blacks is a rugby team and probably a religion. Haka is a war-cry performed before a war or, nowadays, a rugby match. Do not make fun of it!"

　　Don't freak out about people not wearing shoes: "It's perfectly normal to go about in public places without footwear and in some cases a shirt."

　　Don't expect a huge amount of vegan options: "Notify people you visit and be careful about which restaurants you go to. Some older people especially can consider it 'weird' or even radical behavior."

　　Don't expect people to speak English: "The French educational system is bad at teaching foreign languages, with an excessive focus on reading and writing compared to conversational skills. Many older people only know a bit of bad and heavily accented English, possibly some German or Spanish."

　　別指望法國人講英語(yǔ)："法國的教育系統在外語(yǔ)教學(xué)方面可不怎么樣，比起會(huì )話(huà)技能，閱讀和寫(xiě)作被強調過(guò)頭了。很多年紀比較大的人只懂一點(diǎn)蹩腳的、口音很重的英語(yǔ)，還可能會(huì )一點(diǎn)德語(yǔ)或西班牙語(yǔ)。"

　　德國

　　Don't stare: "You'd appear either uneducated or mentally ill."

　　不要盯著(zhù)看："你會(huì )顯得沒(méi)文化或者神經(jīng)病。"

　　Don't be overly friendly: "Germans like to gradually warm up to people and take time to really get to know them before acting like best friends forever."

　　不要過(guò)于熱情友好："德國人比較'慢熱'，喜歡花時(shí)間慢慢了解對方，不會(huì )一見(jiàn)面就自來(lái)熟。"

　　Don't wish someone a happy birthday before the actual day: "The origin is a superstition that something bad will happen to them (they might die) before their birthday if you do, however this rule is not limited to superstitious people. Even bright, rational Germans will feel uncomfortable because it's just not done."

　　Don't stare at naked people: "People are pretty relaxed about nudity, and both men and women will change on public beaches, for example, without any attempt at covering themselves up. You are however expected to look away."

　　Don't unwrap flowers before you give them as a gift: "Germans do this."

　　Don't ask people about church: "Most attend none, and asking this is seen as intrusive, rude and downright weird."

　　Don't be easily offended: "We have a huge sense of humor as a culture. Nothing is out of bounds for us! We'll mock, ridicule, insult, pick on and put down just for the fun of it, on a regular basis!"

　　Don't be afraid to try everything: "We love it when you try to say that ridiculously difficult word in Spanish, and you'll be met with proud cheers if you brave a bite out of that horrifyingly spicy pepper, or down that shot of tequila."

　　不要害怕嘗試："我們喜歡看你嘗試用西班牙語(yǔ)講出個(gè)超級大難詞，要是你敢咬一口超辛辣的辣椒或干一杯龍舌蘭，肯定會(huì )換來(lái)一片喝彩!"

　　肯尼亞

　　Don't disrespect religion: "Almost everyone you meet is religious; religion here is always in fashion, so if someone asks you if you are religious, don't take offense because it is common for everyone to follow a religion, and about 80% of the population are Christian."

　　不要對宗教不敬："在這幾乎你遇到的每個(gè)人都篤信宗教;宗教在這里一直都很盛行，所以要是有人問(wèn)你信不信教，千萬(wàn)別介意，因為在這里人人信教是很尋常的，大約80%的人口是基督教徒。"

　　Don't be impatient: "Hardly anything runs on time, with the exception of a couple of business meetings and bank closing hours and most other businesses. Everything runs late, don't get annoyed or impatient, learn to go with the flow, things will happen, just not on time."

　　不要不耐煩："除了少數商務(wù)會(huì )談、銀行停止營(yíng)業(yè)及大部分其他企業(yè)，這里幾乎沒(méi)什么事是準時(shí)的。凡事都姍姍來(lái)遲，所以別生氣或不耐煩，入鄉隨俗吧，事情總歸會(huì )辦的，只不過(guò)遲一些罷了。"

　　Don't call someone by their first name: "Miss, Mrs, Mr, Dr and Engineer so and so (mostly the surname) are acceptable. If you want to talk to someone whose name you don't know, refer to them as madam or sir. You get quite a lot of bonus points for that. Only refer to someone by their first name if they introduce themselves as such."

　　不要直呼別人的名字："你可以加上小姐、女士、先生、醫生、工程師等稱(chēng)呼，大部分時(shí)候可以直接加上姓氏。如果你要和人說(shuō)話(huà)卻不知道對方姓名，那就稱(chēng)呼Ta為女士或先生。這能為你贏(yíng)得不少好感。只有當對方用名字介紹自己時(shí)，你才可以直呼其名。"

　　愛(ài)爾蘭

　　Don't say "Top of the morning to you": "I don't know how this phrase became associated with Irish people, perhaps it was used in the distant past. But it's not now, and it's just really irritating."

　　不要說(shuō)"給您問(wèn)早安"。"我不知道這句話(huà)跟愛(ài)爾蘭人有什么淵源，可能是老早以前的用法吧。但現在不再用了，這么說(shuō)真的很討厭。"

　　Don't attempt an Irish accent: "To us there is no Irish accent; there are Cork accents, Dublin accents, Kerry accents etc. For us an accent contains reams of unspoken information about a person (Urban/Rural, social status) aside from the geographic information."

　　不要學(xué)愛(ài)爾蘭口音："我們不覺(jué)得自己有'愛(ài)爾蘭口音'。愛(ài)爾蘭有科克口音、都柏林口音、克里口音等等。在我們看來(lái)，除了地域信息，口音還能透露許多不曾明說(shuō)的信息，比如一個(gè)人是城市人還是農村人、社會(huì )地位如何等等。"

　　Don't be cheap: "The classic is when buying a rounds in a pub. If someone is offering to buy the first round, it is perfectly acceptable to say 'I'm on a budget, I'll get my own.' It is not ok to join the round and then not pay for a round yourself."

　　不要貪便宜："最典型的就是在酒吧給一巡酒買(mǎi)單。如果有人提出請喝頭一輪，你完全可以說(shuō)'最近我在省錢(qián)，我還是自己買(mǎi)吧'，你不可以接受別人的請客之后不回請人家。"
