Pollution: An Increasing Concern in China
It is reported that ten big cities in China are being ranked among the top twenty cities with the highest pollution index in the world. This means it is high time we did something to bring the situation under control.Many factors are contributing to the deteriorating situation: industrial wastes pumped into the air， the lakes and rivers; a increasing number of automobiles crowding into the streets; the widespread use of plastic bags etc.
To my view， stiffer laws and regulations must be implemented to check pollution. Industries that release wastes without permission should be heavily fined. Cars should be equipped to minimize the exhaust they release into the air. And the use of plastic bags and disposable meal boxes should be banned. What’s more， the media should play an important role in implanting a sense of environmental consciousness into people’s mind. If everybody works toward a common goal of making the environment better， we can create a cleaner and lovelier world for us and for the coming generation.

First of all, two-child policy is the gift for some only children . For some families, maybe the parents are the only children and they can also have only one child. Put aside the loneliness of their child, when their child grows up they may marry an only child girl accidentally, the burden on their child and his wife is unimaginable . Their child and his wife have to take care of two old couples. Usually, a young couple looking after an old couple is a little difficu< if the pressure increases twice, how can they stand it. But if their parents have two children, they can share the burden of taking care of their parents. It will be much better.

From the graph we can see the health gains in developing cotmtries. In l960, the average life span or life expectancy was only 40 years old. In 1990, after thirty years, the life expectancy rose to 60. At the same time, with the life expectancy going up, the infant mortality is coming down. In 1960 the infant mortality was 200 deaths per 1000 births. That is, about 200 infants died at birth among 1000 babies born. In 1990, the infant mortality declined to 100 deaths per 1000 births.
What are the reasons for this situation? I think it lies in three respects. First, economy is developing as time progresses. People am better off than before. Second, education plays an important role. People are better educated and more civilized. They are more aware that good health ensures success in life and work, Third, the government pays more attention to the protection of the environment. More measures are being taken to deal with the problem of pollution. That is why life expectancy is on the rise and infant mortality on the decline.

With higher income,they can afford to buy good foods. Another factor is that people have realized the importance of a balanced diet to their health. Lack of certain amount of meat or milk,for example, will result in poor health. Finally, owing to the eeonomic reform, meat, chicken, fish and milk, which were scarce in the past, are produced in large quantities. For all these reasons, what was formerly called "the basket of vegetables" has. To sum up, insignificant as those changes may seem, they are the signs of the improved economic condition in China. We believe that as long as the effort continuous in reform and opening to the outside world, there will be greater changes in people's diet in the future.
