Theatre’s Financial “Angels”
In London and New York theatre shows can make seriously big money. That is why__ (0) __ in the theatre is becoming increasingly popular.

1語(yǔ)言嚴謹準確
商務(wù)信函要求語(yǔ)言表達嚴謹準確,但在商務(wù)信函中恰當使用模糊語(yǔ)言,可以使語(yǔ)言表達更加客觀(guān)準確、靈活生動(dòng)、禮貌得體。
(1)商務(wù)英語(yǔ)信函經(jīng)常以意義相同或相近的書(shū)面詞語(yǔ)代替基本詞匯和口語(yǔ)詞匯,如以inform或advise代替tell,以duplicate代替copy,以dispatch代替send,以otherwise代替or;以介詞短語(yǔ)代替簡(jiǎn)單的介詞,如以as for,in respect to,in connection with和with regarding to等代替about等。
例如:
We are pleased to advise you that your order NO.105 has been dispatched in accordance with your instruction.我們很高興地通知你們:第105號訂單貨物已遵照你方指示運出。
We will meet you half way by offering a discount of 5% in view of our long pleasant relations.鑒于我們之間長(cháng)期愉快的業(yè)務(wù)關(guān)系,本公司將酌情考慮給予5%的折扣。
(2)商務(wù)信函中經(jīng)常使用here/there +介詞構成的復合詞,如hereafter,hereby,hereunder,hereto,hereinafter,herewith,thereafter,therein,therefrom等。
例如:
All offers and sales are subject to the terms and conditions printed on the reverse side hereof. 所有報盤(pán)和銷(xiāo)售均應遵守本報價(jià)單背面所印的條款。
In such a case, Seller is bound to reimburse Buyer for any loss or damage sustained therefrom. 在此次情況下,賣(mài)方負責償還買(mǎi)方由此所遭受的損失。
2內容清楚簡(jiǎn)潔
商務(wù)信函在內容表達上要言簡(jiǎn)意賅,能夠傳達足夠信息且能夠做到機智的表達。通常是直接簡(jiǎn)練,開(kāi)門(mén)見(jiàn)山,忌過(guò)分修飾。一般根據寫(xiě)信者所要表達的中心思想分段。正文每段的文字不會(huì )過(guò)長(cháng),尤其是開(kāi)頭和結尾,更常以簡(jiǎn)短為宜。
例如:
“By this letter we would ask you to consider our proposal.”就不如”Please consider our proposal.” 簡(jiǎn)潔;而“Please let us know whenever we can be helpful.” 則比“Whenever there is any way in which we can be of assistance, please feel free to contact us.”表達好一些。
3富于外貿術(shù)語(yǔ)和專(zhuān)業(yè)詞匯
商務(wù)信函用詞表意準確、專(zhuān)業(yè)性強,主要表現在使用大量的專(zhuān)業(yè)術(shù)語(yǔ)、行話(huà)、外來(lái)詞、縮略語(yǔ)以及一般詞語(yǔ)在商務(wù)英語(yǔ)語(yǔ)境中的特殊用法。
(1)專(zhuān)業(yè)術(shù)語(yǔ)類(lèi):
We shall cover TPND on your order.我們將為你方的貨物投保盜竊和提貨不著(zhù)險。
It would be appreciated if you would let us know by returning your lowest possible price for the following goods on FOB London.請報下列商品倫敦船上交貨之最低價(jià)。
(2)外來(lái)詞類(lèi):
拉丁語(yǔ)的status quo(現狀),意大利語(yǔ)的del credere(保付貨價(jià)的),漢語(yǔ)中的litchi(荔枝),tungoil(桐油),mango(芒果)等。
(3)行話(huà):
長(cháng)期的函電交往使人們在使用術(shù)語(yǔ)上形成共識,本來(lái)意義差異很大的詞匯在特定的語(yǔ)境中所表達的內涵和外延卻非常相似。
Offer, quotation表示“報價(jià),發(fā)盤(pán)”
Pamphlet, brochure, booklet, sales literature 表示商家用于宣傳介紹自己公司或產(chǎn)品的“說(shuō)明材料”
Shipment和consignmen表示“所發(fā)出的貨物”
Financial standing/reputation/condition/position表示公司的“資信財務(wù)情況”
Fulfill/complete/execute an order用于表示“執行訂單”
A draft contract或a specimen contract 表示“合同樣本”
(4)數量詞的大量運用:
商務(wù)信函中的時(shí)間、價(jià)格、數量、金額、規格等問(wèn)題貫穿商貿活動(dòng)始終,數字的表達應言之確鑿,避免摸棱兩可,體現商務(wù)信函準確性。
