It is an orange square leather suitcase with a metal handle on it. A label with Perkin's name is tied to the handle. Inside the suitcase is a camera made in Japan, several rolls of film and two woolen jackets.
There is a Chinese-English dictionary and two letters from America in the packet on the front cover and in the back packet is a wallet with 1,000 dollars and a train ticket from Taiyuan to Beijing inside.
