It was always on his conscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. Finally he decided to put right his childish error. In 20xx, he visited Qingdao and returned it to the Aquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm welcome. When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported on his visit. I was deeply touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I think to err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct one’s error. Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. So we should try to keep an honest mind in everything we say and do. Good morning/afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.
Consider the lowly toilet. Many of you may not think of the toilet as a form of technology if you think of toilets at all. But, it is and has contributed greatly to the improved health and overall quality of life for mankind.
On a recent trip to Japan, I was impressed by, among other things, a gadget in most public women's restrooms, called Otohime or Sound Princess. This device produces the sound of flushing water without the need for actual flushing. The technology saves the user both the embarrassment of being heard during urination and some 20 liters of water per use in cases where a woman might flush the toilet continuously while using it.
Every time I used Otohime, I felt like a princess, an environmentalist princess on the toilet.
It was a longed for feeling. Over the past decade, I shuffled in and out of many kinds of public restrooms in China--filthy smelly water closets in outlying areas, spacious luxurious lavatories in five-star hotels, forever-occupied girls' stalls on campus during school, and smart modern mobile toilets in international fairs. But not one single "room" evoked my pride of being a princess.
And I knew why the Sound Princess had. It was not because of the high technology the small bathroom boasted which is becoming ubiquitous worldwide. It was the idealism embodied in the technology that keeps reminding me that in this ever-changing world, I am a responsible and dignified human being even when sitting on a toilet.
Humanism, no matter how it is defined, aims to strike a balance between us being at the mercy of nature and being too human-centered. In my case, I haven't relieved myself under a tree for a while. I am a proud, dutiful Chinese citizen. Gone are the days when people just found a corner to do their business resulting in poor sanitation and threats to public health. The Otohimetechnology renders me two warnings: First, I am a humble human being with an obligation to save not only my face but also natural resources. Second, there is still a long way to go in my own country not just in developing technology and the economy, but also in upholding human dignity and promoting human welfare. Take the toilet: Dirty, crowdedtoilets shall, at least, give way to clean, human-friendly ones.
Fortunately, I have seen improvements. At Shanghai World Expo 20xx, 8,000 toilets, all modern and technologically sophisticated, were installed across the site. What really delighted the visitors, however, was the user-friendly design and services. Toilets were situated every 100 meters. Several hundred volunteers served as toilet guides and sanitation workers. The ratio of female to male toilet space was set at 2.5 to 1. Soft music was played in the toilets. All this seems to celebrate the glory of comprehensive humanism.
Ladies and gentlemen, science and technology are here to improve earthly life and maximize human happiness. When our world benefits from technology, coupled with human considerations, we are bound to enjoy our life. Conversely, we suffer.
The toilet is a piece of sanitaryware and the quintessence of humanism that underlies technological innovation. Like GNP, employment rates, and space exploration efforts, the lowly equipment is an equally important measure of a progressive society. When on a toilet if we feel like a princess, we shall be proud of living in a society that values humanity. If not, we must stand up and make some changes.
And if you are still baffled with what I have said, I suggest you take off right now and go experience the bathrooms in this auditorium, because they are what makes our life beautiful or ugly, humanism considered or ignored.

no other words were needed any more! i started practicing and rehearsing once again, paying special attention to those little things that i used to ignore. as a consequence, my overall performance was quickly elevated to a new high! without much trouble, in another singing contest held months later, i won!
what do i learn from this experience? never give up lightly! life's full of opportunities, and lots of them! to realize your dreams and fulfill your potential, you must learn to work hard and smart and steer your lifeboat wisely! as a li ling's sportswear commercial goes “everything is possible!” but not without sweat, devotion, and tears sometimes!
life is a long journey, during which we are surely going to face many challenges, experience lots of failures, and equally, many opportunities are waving to us, while sweet rewards are waiting for us! to transform these opportunities into fruitful results, or turn those challenges and failures into valuable assets, we must learn to seize the good ones and not to retreat lightly in front of difficulties.

1、英語(yǔ)課堂學(xué)習應該注重課堂學(xué)習效果，課堂里的40分鐘非常寶貴且有限，要在這短短的時(shí)間內掌握所有的英語(yǔ)知識肯定不易。因此，課堂中要認真聽(tīng)講，及時(shí)消化，否則容易造成聽(tīng)課越聽(tīng)越不懂，形成惡性循環(huán)！這里我要特別提醒少數在課堂上表現不容樂(lè )觀(guān)的同學(xué)，他們課堂上看似認真，卻是身在心不在，學(xué)習重在表象，完全不扎實(shí)，課堂上總是要在老師的督促與提醒下才能聽(tīng)課，這樣不僅僅影響了自己及周邊同學(xué)的學(xué)習，同時(shí)也影響了老師的教學(xué)進(jìn)程，從而浪費課堂學(xué)習時(shí)間，導致學(xué)習困難。要知道學(xué)英語(yǔ)學(xué)習重在平時(shí)的努力，學(xué)好英語(yǔ)和智商無(wú)關(guān)，學(xué)不好英語(yǔ)的人都是懶惰的人。那種想靠臨時(shí)突擊，臨時(shí)抱佛腳的做法不可取也不可行。
2、英語(yǔ)學(xué)習貴在堅持！就好像跑步運動(dòng)，英語(yǔ)學(xué)習之初大家都從同一個(gè)起跑線(xiàn)出發(fā)，但隨著(zhù)難度加深與詞匯量加大，一些同學(xué)慢慢對英語(yǔ)失去新鮮感續而厭煩最后掉隊。希望大家都能奮發(fā)圖強，高中生活也才過(guò)去六分之一，因此還存較大提高的余地！對于英語(yǔ)偏科的同學(xué)，雖然是歷史原因造成的，但并不是不可根治的，想要證明自己真正有實(shí)力那就從偏科的英語(yǔ)入手，重點(diǎn)突破！所以，現在欠下了學(xué)習債的同學(xué)們在課后一定要主動(dòng)抽時(shí)間為自己補習英語(yǔ)。
3、學(xué)習習慣是第一生產(chǎn)力。許多同學(xué)英語(yǔ)學(xué)習好，并不是他（她）比別人聰明，而是學(xué)習習慣比較好。良好的學(xué)習習慣可以大大提高你的學(xué)習效果，我們年級有很多這樣的同學(xué)，比如：黃健，張葉，練詩(shī)林，孫震，鄒佳玲，彭圣文，姜艷秋，黃靜文，官慧婕，唐建柯等同學(xué)，她們學(xué)習態(tài)度端正，上課認真，書(shū)寫(xiě)工整，正因為如此，無(wú)論什么考試都能取得很好的成績(jì)，這與她們平時(shí)良好的學(xué)習習慣是分不開(kāi)的！因此，良好的學(xué)習習慣是成功學(xué)習的保障。在此，我向大家提出幾點(diǎn)建議，希望大家能堅持做好。
首先，樹(shù)立必勝的學(xué)習“自信心”。人的自信心是一種心理品質(zhì)，是情感因素之一，它對我們的學(xué)習起著(zhù)重要作用。對于一個(gè)有自信的人，他會(huì )勇于面對挑戰，努力向自己定下的目標進(jìn)發(fā)，追求自我實(shí)現，不僅可以帶來(lái)個(gè)人的成功感，在其他方面也能得到全面的發(fā)展，使自己更受人歡迎；相反，對一個(gè)沒(méi)有自信的人，他會(huì )逃避挑戰，不敢面對失敗的風(fēng)險，懷疑自己的能力，使自己失去很多成功的機會(huì )。因此，希望大家能夠正確地分析自己的處境、建立適度的期望值，正確而理性地對待分數，有句話(huà)說(shuō)的好：永遠不要否定自己，因為沒(méi)有人已百分百地認識自己，人的潛能是無(wú)窮的。你自己也一樣。給自己一個(gè)目標，自己跟自己比，只要今天的自己比昨天的自己有進(jìn)步，就說(shuō)明你是成功的。要知道，學(xué)習英語(yǔ)是一項艱苦的勞動(dòng)，沒(méi)有頑強的意志，堅持不懈的毅力是不能成功的。所以英語(yǔ)學(xué)習中要克服畏難心理，鍛煉學(xué)生堅強的意志。同時(shí)，在學(xué)習過(guò)程中，不斷地給自己積極的心理的暗示：如“我能趕上”，“我會(huì )獲得成功的�！�
第二，要做好課前預習。高中英語(yǔ)教材每一個(gè)模塊的內容都比初中明顯增多，詞匯量大，課文長(cháng)，難度大。因此，同學(xué)們必須在每節課前做好充分的預習，通過(guò)查字典等工具書(shū)解決難點(diǎn)。對于自己解決不了的問(wèn)題，做好標記。上課時(shí)，要特殊注重這些難點(diǎn)地方，這樣課堂聽(tīng)課做到有的放矢，學(xué)習效果好，也就提高了學(xué)習效率。
第三，重視閱讀理解能力的培養。閱讀的目的是提高對語(yǔ)篇整體認識的能力，以及推理判斷，歸納總結的能力。堅持長(cháng)期閱讀（每天至少2篇以上）是穩步提高的保證。通過(guò)有計劃有步驟的課外閱讀（如我們所訂的報紙），不僅能鞏固拓寬教材所學(xué)內容，更關(guān)鍵是會(huì )使所學(xué)知識活起來(lái)，激發(fā)出濃厚的學(xué)英語(yǔ)的興趣以及擴大知識量的欲望。
第四，養成朗讀背誦的習慣。朗讀是在課文所提供的.語(yǔ)境中對語(yǔ)音，語(yǔ)調，意群，句型等基礎知識的綜合練習，同時(shí)培養純正的語(yǔ)音語(yǔ)調和好的用語(yǔ)習慣以及為聽(tīng)力打下堅實(shí)的基礎。對學(xué)過(guò)的句型，詞組，對話(huà)，課文進(jìn)行朗讀和背誦，形成流利的語(yǔ)感，也培養了理解能力，為說(shuō)，讀及英語(yǔ)寫(xiě)作打好基礎，這是提高英語(yǔ)水平的根本方法。
第五，建立錯誤檔案本。在學(xué)習過(guò)程中，已獲得的知識和技能對以后新知識，新技能的形成產(chǎn)生一定的影響，最好的辦法是消滅錯誤，獲得正確知識和技能。每次練習或考試后，應該把自己做錯的具有代表性的題目抄下來(lái)，收集匯編，然后把老師對錯題講解后的正確語(yǔ)句熟讀牢記，保留錯誤的答案，用紅筆寫(xiě)上正確的答案，眉批上理由分析，這樣就形成新的語(yǔ)言習慣。平時(shí)和臨考前翻看，加深印象，引起注意，大大減少了錯誤率。既鞏固了知識，又提高了應試能力，發(fā)揮了最佳的水平。
第六，養成良好的書(shū)寫(xiě)習慣。書(shū)寫(xiě)規范，字跡工整，卷面整潔的習慣也很重要。高中相當一部分學(xué)生的字體書(shū)寫(xiě)不好，難以辨認，大小寫(xiě)不分，詞距若有若無(wú)，標點(diǎn)符號亂用，給老師批改作業(yè)和試卷造成極大的麻煩。這在高考閱卷評分中會(huì )吃大虧，白白丟分。因此，從高一開(kāi)始平時(shí)要養成書(shū)寫(xiě)規范的習慣，對大小寫(xiě)，標點(diǎn)符號和詞距等一定要一絲不茍，力求規范化，整齊美觀(guān)。
第七，養成使用英漢雙解詞典的習慣。高中學(xué)生閱讀面擴大，需要補充詞匯量。學(xué)生應備一本英漢詞典，如牛津中，高階英漢雙解詞典，在學(xué)習中隨時(shí)查閱。這在很大程度上能解決學(xué)生的疑惑，幫助理解詞的用法，詞匯量也就隨之不斷擴大。
最后，認真對待老師布置的作業(yè)，包括書(shū)面的和非書(shū)面的作業(yè)。作業(yè)一定要按時(shí)獨立完成，不要成為學(xué)習上的“寄生蟲(chóng)”。作業(yè)是老師檢查了解學(xué)生知識掌握情況的一個(gè)有效途徑，要求同學(xué)們能如實(shí)客觀(guān)地對待作業(yè)。知之為知之，不知為不知，寧愿獨立完成歸后空幾題的作業(yè)，也比完全不經(jīng)過(guò)自己大腦思考抄襲來(lái)的作業(yè)質(zhì)量高得多。許多同學(xué)自覺(jué)性差，平時(shí)空空散漫，交作業(yè)時(shí)就抄，很多時(shí)間，老師都布置了一定的英語(yǔ)作業(yè)，但更多的時(shí)候是要求同
